Our Commitment
Lighthouse Coffee & Mercantile (“Lighthouse,” “we,” “us”) is committed to providing a website and in-café experience that are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology, ability, or circumstance. We actively work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA—the current internationally recognized standard for digital accessibility.

Measures We Take

Design, code, and content decisions follow WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria whenever new pages, forms, images, or media are added.

Ongoing accessibility audits (automated and manual) flag color-contrast issues, missing alt text, keyboard traps, focus order problems, and ARIA labeling gaps.

Staff and contractors receive basic accessibility training during onboarding.

Every core feature (menu browsing, online ordering, loyalty sign-up, event calendar) is tested with keyboard-only navigation and popular screen readers (NVDA and VoiceOver).

We use semantic HTML, descriptive link text, and ARIA roles to help assistive technologies interpret content.

Current Accessibility Status

Most pages and features already meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA.

A few third-party widgets (for example, embedded social feeds) may not yet be fully accessible, as we do not control their code. We continue to urge these vendors to improve compliance.

PDF menu downloads are in the process of being converted to screen-reader friendly tagged PDFs. Plain-text alternatives are available upon request.

Known Issues We Are Actively Working On

Automated captions for some older marketing videos may be inaccurate. We are replacing these with human-edited captions.

Drag-and-drop interactions for our gift-card builder currently lack keyboard support. A fix is under development.

We will acknowledge receipt within 5 business days and aim to resolve all verified issues within 15 business days.

Third-Party Content
Our website may link to or embed third-party content (e.g., DoorDash ordering, Instagram posts). Although we strive to ensure accessibility, we cannot guarantee that outside content meets the same WCAG standards. We encourage those vendors to adopt accessible practices.

Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We review this statement annually—sooner if major changes to the site or the law occur—and update our practices accordingly.
